As the new year approaches, you probably find yourself thinking about your future, who you want to be, and how you could get there. I totally get it; that’s me all the time. I’m always on the look out for was to improve myself in all aspects, and because of this, I’ve read an awful lot of personal growth books. Today I’ll be sharing my favorites with you. Some of them are older and some are newer, but the message is timeless.
FIVE EMPOWERING BOOKS TO READ IN 2018
This book has been a bestseller for over a year – and with good reason! If you find yourself caring about everything, this book is for you. Manson doesn’t mince words, as the title implies, and it’s refreshing.
If you haven’t read this yet, we need to talk. When I was a hiring manager, I bought copies for all of my team members. If you can pick just one book on this list, make it this one. Sincero manages to explain the Law of Attraction and its principles without all the new age-y stuff. (And you know I hate new age stuff.)
In 2014, Admiral McRaven addressed the graduating class of University of Texas at Austin. His speech has been viewed over 5 million times on YouTube. If you haven’t seen it, watch it here. How can you not want to read this book after watching that? So inspiring!
This book was originally published when I was a kid. My mom worked in Corporate America, and I remember seeing this book when I would go to work with her. As I grew up, I would hear how good it was, and being the skeptic that I was, I would laugh at these out-of-touch recommendations. But then I read it. You guys, it’s such an empowering book. I totally get it now.
Once I gave in and read The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, I decided that maybe old books had some value. (What a crazy idea!) I picked up this 80+ year old book, but a new version because none of my living relatives were even alive when this book was originally published. There’s a reason over 15 million copies have been sold.
IT STARTS WITH ONE
Which book will you start with? Because you have to start somewhere, right? I know I TOLD you to start with You Are a Badass, but that’s just me being bossy. You should start with the book that resonates best with you. Which one is it? Let me know in the comments!
