Remember when I told you I was clarifying my niche? (To sum up: I was planning to move my empowerment posts to my professional site and post lifestyle type stuff here.) Those were good times, right? But guess what! I didn’t do it. I intended to, laid the ground work, and then I thought to myself, “Why do I have to play by others’ rules?”
So ya know what? I’m “clarifying my niche” for real this time, and my niche is ladyblogging. I think this may be an existing niche, but if it isn’t so what? It is now.
WHAT IS A LADYBLOG
I’m defining a ladyblog as a blog for and about ladies. (It’s amazing I don’t work for Merriam-Webster. I’m super good at definitions.) There are multiple takes on the ladyblog (as I saw when I googled and realized I was not the first person to use the term). The niche contains hard-hitting women’s issue blogs and also light-hearted personal blogs. I consider momblogs to be a form a ladyblogs, also. If the blogs content is for women, it’s a ladyblog.
So says me, hopeful maybe one day employee of Merriam-Webster.
WHAT IS EXTRAORDINARILY NICE
It’s important to me to be honest, so this blog will not always be sunshine and rainbows. I have never been one to shy away from voicing my opinion loud and proud, and this platform will be an extension of that. Above all, Extraordinarily Nice is and will continue to be authentic.
WHY I STARTED EXTRAORDINARILY NICE
Extraordinarily Nice was born from my desire to empower women. My first few posts were all closely related to the Law of Attraction. As I wrote more empowering posts, I realized there needed to be more to Extraordinarily Nice than just detached guides.
Have you ever read a blog that’s completely detached? You get no feel for the author’s personality, and it reads like an instruction manual. You guys, I cannot stand that style of writing, and the fact that I initially wrote like that was such a bummer.
So I took what I know (empowerment + lifestyle) and combined it with what makes me unique (my personality) and BAM! Extraordinarily Nice was born.
